Over the last few months there has been some incidents regarding AI/LLMs (just called AI from here on out), and their use on ziggit. As such I have consulted with the moderators and come up with a policy to help mediate where the use of AI is acceptable, where it is not acceptable, and what to do if you think there are issues with someone violating these rules.
Bottom Line Up Front:
The gist of this policy can be stated as such:
Ziggit is by and for humans. We don’t want AI participation
If what you are doing cannot in good faith be considered in line with that premise, then you are probably in violation of this policy.
Rules
Forbidden uses of AI:

AI for Answering questions: Do not use AI to answer questions that are asked on this site. We do not want to see “This is what my chatbot says”, followed by AI content. We especially don’t want to see copy pasted answers from AI. If someone wanted that they could go to AI themselves.

AI Generated Code: Do not use AI to generate code, and present it untested. AI Coding assistants can be powerful; however with a moving target like zig, their usefulness is limited. Ziggit hopes to help others with learning zig. Throwing in bad code just obfuscates the process even more.

Questions about AI generated code: Do not ask why your AI generated code isn’t compiling. We are not interested in debugging bad AI output.
Permitted uses of AI:
- Translation: Ziggit is for humans. That extends beyond those who speak English. While English is the language used on this forum, we don’t want to exclude those who are not able to speak/write in English. AI for the use of rote translation is absolutely permitted. However please limit your use of AI to translation. A good prompt might be “Translate this into English exactly…”.
What to Do if you suspect someone is violating these rules.
If you suspect someone is violating these rules, please flag the post, and explain why you think the content is in violation of the rules. DO NOT accuse people of being an AI/chatbot etc. This only creates hostility. The moderators will review flagged content.
Epilogue
Opinions abound about AI, its usefulness and its future. This policy is not reflective of the views the moderators regarding AI. Discussions about AI, software written in zig to develop AI and other AI adjacent topics are permitted, and welcomed as long as they are also related to zig.
