I’m building a team of the best Zig engineers in Melbourne for an early stage startup. If you’re interested, DM me here or on X (https://x.com/indigoorton).
You can’t just say “here’s a potential job” with absolutely no details
Very fair criticism. I don’t mean to be opaque. Simply that this isn’t so much a direct job posting (some details are still being determined) as a call for meeting engineers interested in Zig in a particular location. This seemed the most relevant category (as I am hiring).
So is this a meetup call then rather than a job posting?
I don’t mean to be opaque.
But you are being opaque. I don’t want to be rude, but I also don’t want to be naive and what you are posting comes off really fishy. If you just want to do a meetup, then I’d classify this as a “Media” post. If you have a legitimate job posting then post the details or a link to place to apply.
Not a meetup. I had assumed Media was for posting content from media sources.
I’m building a team for a stealth stage startup. So engineers of varying levels and, unfortunately, an inability to share many details.
I really like Zig. I am building a team working in Zig. I presume that posting on Ziggit is the best way to get in touch with engineers especially interested in Zig.
So this is “if you’re interested in Zig and in working at an early stage startup (in Melbourne), let’s chat”. If that’s not you, fair enough, no harm done, scroll passed this post It’s a fairly narrow call out. I think that people that applies to will be able to decide whether to reach out.
Can you at least say what you’re not planning to work on? I think people would be more receptive to your pitch if you’d say, flat out, that your venture has nothing to do with blockchain.
Posting blockchain jobs is not against the rules either, as long as those are Zig jobs.
On the face of it @ijdo is looking to meet Zig engineers in Melbourne with the intention to hire. Startups in le epic stealth mode aren’t uncommon. Maybe he’s actually an organ thief, but we shouldn’t jump to conclusions.
I have to admit I don’t understand the hostility here.
- not blockchain;
- not organ thief;
- … maybe a few limbs though?
Working on something that involves security, AI-generated-apps, compilers, and high-performance primitives. So I guess the main thing to flag that some people might dislike is it is in the AI space, though the Zig work is focused on building core system primitives.
Also, I’m keen to meet other engineers interested in Zig in Melbourne, even if they aren’t looking for a job! (I know this isn’t the right category for that)
Hey, this is somewhat close enough - I am from Puncak Alam, Malaysia, not Melbourne. Would you be okay with virtual whiteboarding?
I noticed that you are working on something involving security, AI, compilers, etc. I am going to make a guess that perhaps my current familiarity with utilizing AMX SIMD to greatly speed up training of ML models, AVX SIMD usage in general for semiring mat-mul operations of sparse matrix formats, grammar parsing methods based on sparse matrices and hypergraphs, etc could be of some use. Also security…hey, I’m just recently juggling with the the possibility of utilizing Lambek Calculus for that purpose. It’s not concrete yet, but if you are open to onboard someone who could bring diagonal ideas to your team perhaps we can get in touch?
