Transit - A versioned database and durable execution runtime

Transit

———

Hi everyone! I’m working on Transit (Data, computation and policies | Transit), a versioned database and durable execution runtime written in Zig.

It brings together tables, key-value storage, documents, streams and queues, with a query engine called Fuze and a durable application framework called Station. There’s also a SQL console, a browser interface called Board, and SDKs for several languages.

A few parts of the implementation might be interesting:

  • Separated storage and compute
  • DBSP incremental view maintenance
  • Collation support (it can read mainframe datasets and join them to a table)

It’s early days but feel free to drop thoughts and comments if you find it useful or interesting.

Supported Zig versions

Currently pinned to Zig 0.17.0-dev.2267+48abf1a34. The repository’s Nix development environment provides the pinned toolchain.
