I’m not a Zig user, just an admirer from the sidelines.
I never wrote a line of production system-level code in my life. The closest I got was crashing the Linux kernel when trying to tap into network traffic around uni years.
That being said, from all the post-C/C++ options out there - D, Odin, Rust, Nim and maybe others I feel the strongest resonance with Zig.
It’s compact, ergonomic and just makes sense.
I think it all stems from the very human way the project is managed. I see a lot of kindness and fair, principled position in the decision making and it feels genuine.
So I wanted to pop up and express my gratitude for that. I probably won’t have a chance to use it any time soon. But I’m very glad it exists, and there are bindings in my primary language. In the time I’d need to integrate a C library or do performance-sensitive work, Zig would be my first choice.
