Hey all, as the year closes I thought it would be fun to do a “state of ziggit” post. This last year has been an exciting one. We have seen the two Important releases of Zig this year, including the beginning of the much anticipated ‘Writergate’. Our community has been a great as an oasis of knowledge, providing help and discussion for newcomers and old . In the last year we have had over 700 help topics with accepted answers, and over 2000 new topics created.
I want to thank you all for your participation in the community. Interacting and learning from you have genuinely made me a better programmer. It’s you who make ziggit the best programming community out there, thanks for your awesome participation.
I’d be ungrateful if I failed to mention the work of our moderators @sze, @tensorush, @dimdin, and @mnemnion. Moderating isn’t always easy, and they have done an amazing job helping to keep ziggit what it is.
Over the last year the growth of the community, as well as the introduction of our AI Policy has seen a steady increase in the work done by our moderating team. This has created the need to add a new Moderator to our team, and @pierrelgol has graciously volunteered to join the team. Please welcome him as our new moderator.
Thanks again, and a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Thank you for the opportunity, I joined this community a while back, and I can’t say how lucky I have been of finding each and everyone on this forum, everyone has always been so helpful and supportive, I like that we all know each others, and I like that this community has always been so open, and nice to everyone, I’ll do my best to ensure that the forum stays a welcoming place for like minded people, to exchange, share and ask. Merry Christmas and Happy new year everyone. And thanks again @Calder-Ty for the trust.
Ziggit runs on a small one CPU linode server. It averages ~200 GB a month of Transfer out. It’s surprisingly efficient to run (IMO). I haven’t noticed any issues with automated scrapers, but that could just be a permanent background noise.
Thanks, mods. It’s nice to have a place on the Internet where we can be slightly less anonymous, and have a chance to not only get into disagreements but come out the other side of them with more community built, rather than retreating further and further into isolation bubbles.
A rare forum where one can let their guard down, at least a little.
+1 to the chorus, I really appreciate @dude_the_builder starting the community, @Calder-Ty and the mod team for maintaining it, and @kristoff and @andrewrk for participating as peers, without trying to control what this community is up to! Yay decentralization & heterogeneity!
