Slower CI on zig 0.17

I’m migrating my projects to Zig 0.17, where I can, I support both 0.16 and 0.17 and thanks to this comparison, I found out that 0.17 CI runs are much slower, mostly because of the zig build maker split. I guess there are advantages for local builds, where I can reuse it, but I’m not sure about CI. Any suggestions? I’ve found ZIG_DEBUG_CMD, should I be using that in CI? Should I try to cache the maker across runs somehow? I can’t cache the entire zig-cache if it doesn’t have garbage collection.

EDIT, sorry, it seems that setup-zig does cache everything, so maybe it’s mainly related to the cache in Windows, because there I see the largest difference in performance

I don’t have any concrete suggestions, but I’m curious how much of a difference there is between 0.16.0 and 0.17.0 with setup-zig caching enabled, for each platform?

I took a few days to check how it behaves and it seems to have settled, no longer any systematic differences. If anything, 0.17 is now a bit faster. So I think what I saw on the first day was just the cache being overwritten or something like that.
