I enjoyed attending quite a bit. Thanks to all who helped host it.

It was a very successful first event, I’d say! I had fun, and I learned a lot talking to folks. Looking forward to the next zig day. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I wish someone could organize something like this for the Denver area :face_exhaling:

You can be that person! There’s info on organizing here. All you need is a space and two people, and I am certain there are more than two people who would sign up if they saw Denver pop up on the website. Libraries usually have community rooms that are free to reserve. Everything else is niceties - we had tea, coffee and a few snacks, but they were entirely unnecessary and just because we wanted it. I think I was the only one drinking the coffee and Andrew the only one drinking the tea.

I think if I were a bit older and had more experience with setting up community events, I would consider trying. Unfortunately, I feel it would be prohibitively difficult for me to organize something like that given I am only a college student. Fingers crossed that someone in the area finds themselves willing to try though!

That means you’re surrounded by a community of people who are overflowing with curiosity and searching for knowledge! I can’t speak for everyone, but half the reason an event like this excites me as a dude in my 30s is because I miss that environment and want to recreate it! I’m literally considering how to move the next Zig Day Portland to PSU, and it’s partly to try to get more college students to show up and give us a fresh perspective

Believe me, I understand there’s a social anxiety element to this. I had lunch by myself at this event because I needed to recharge. It can be a lot!

Are you in comp sci? I bet if you went to a professor and asked about it, they might help you figure it out, or even act as the host.
