ML Engineering Roles at tvScientific

Hi all!

I’m the Head of Data Science at tvScientific–I’m hiring a few MLEs interested in working in Zig on my team at tvScientific. We just raised a $25.5M Series B at the end of January 2025, to make ad campaigns that run on streaming services more cost-efficient.

The Data Science org I lead has 5 engineers working at least part-time in Zig today, including zls creator Auguste Rame, Hans Musgrave, and Ziggit moderator @AndrewCodeDev. One cool thing we’ve done recently is write a new & shiny protobuf parser in Zig.

The team is:

  • fully remote (today & forever), and focused on doing remote work well
  • primarily US-based (though we can potentially make exceptions)

Some other things we’re looking for:

  • Being a great Python or Scala engineer is a plus
  • ML / RL / bandits / deep learning (in particular related to video or time series data)
  • We’re also stretched on DevOps stuff (Terraform / k8s / Argo)
  • And we’re stretched on web dev (Python / Litestar / Streamlit) so if you have skills there, there’s a potential fit.

These are ML-focused roles, but people purely interested in systems are encouraged to reach out. The job is listed as senior, but we can flex up for people beyond that level or down for new grads.

Feel free to ask questions here or reach out to me directly – mbilow [at] tvscientific [punto] com

Hi, @michaelbilow.

I came across your post about the MLE role at tvScientific and was immediately intrigued by the opportunity to work with Zig, even in a hybrid capacity. I have a strong background in C#/.NET, with some experience in Rust, and have used Python as a scripting base and for building small REST services. While my professional focus has been more on backend engineering rather than ML, I’ve had university coursework in statistics and applied it in a volunteer project, though it wasn’t my primary responsibility.

I also tried to apply for a job from your website, but there is no option for Ukrainian universities and it seems that a work visa is required.

What excites me most about this opportunity is the chance to work with Zig in a production environment, especially alongside experienced contributors like Auguste Rame and others. I’m eager to expand my expertise in systems programming and contribute to building efficient, high-performance solutions. While I don’t have a US work permit, I’d be very interested if you are open to a contract or freelance arrangement.

I’d love to discuss whether my skill set and enthusiasm could be a good fit for your team. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Best,
Danylo
