Ilovezig: a terminal docs browser for Zig (vibe-coded, early WIP)

Hello everyone!

I’m learning Zig as my first systems programming language and It’s been quite a ride.

I’m finding joy in having ABSOLUTE control of everything, and this whole experience has been aided by grok helping me understand stuff quickly, it’s an incredible tutor! (I ask for no code written).

One thing I did not like, was that I was flowing on the keyboard like the best, using helix, ghostty and grok-build, but when I wanted to read the docs, they where on a website. Bummer.

So, I thought, why not a term docs app. And that’s what ***I built (haven’t read a single line of code).

I present to you ilovezig:

You can explore the documentation for the reference, std and arbitrary repos moving around using vim or emacs key binding( + some custom ones documented at the bottom).

The app is incredibly snapping, I’ve never experienced a doc like this. It’s seriously the best way to read the references.

If you get to a piece of documentation you want to learn more, just type o, and it will open you $EDITOR in there.

The app uses zls to link every repo against the std, so you can see real examples of usage.

You can also save items as favorites to recall later.

And you have a history of your search links followed.

While it’s not quite there yet as an app, I thought I’d share, as I’m finding it super useful.

There’s a few more things I wanted to add, but I’m running out of tokens so I need to be frugal about it.

Feel free to contribute and token-max this baby.
