Lenovo Thinkpad x230 in 2026 for zig:
okay, so I’ve needed an actual laptop for a while. i primarily use desktop or run shells from my phone and tablet via iSh (i’ve actually leveraged this setup a lot and it’s way more useful then it sounds). have always loved the idea of taking an older laptop, preferably a thinkpad model, corebooting it (probably libreboot), and throwing alpine on it for an ultra lightweight (not physically it’s like 3 pounds) dev board. if i desperately need an actual desktop environment on it i can always live boot something with persistence via flash drive. anyway, it occurred to me that I could still play around with zig under these sorts of constraints, along with c obviously. that being said, i have a few terminal based programs in zig that i’m looking forward to testing on a laptop from over a decade ago.
btw; not the tablet model and i snagged it for like 110 american. specs sound wild in the modern day ik
