First video - Zig 0.13.0 release notes

This is my first of hopefully many videos on the Zig programming language. Please let me know what you think!

(yes i know this is nearly a month late, but I haven’t had much time to finish it)

That was great! I can tell that was a lot of work.

It makes me feel incredibly validated to hear you say that. Thank you so much!

I’m just blown away every day with how incredible and fun Zig is. I am still fairly new to the language (started about a month ago), but have already fell in love with it. It was enough to convert a total Rust fanboy, that’s for sure.

Glad to be a part of the community

I think the video is well-made. Especially considering that you just learned the language.
I’m looking forward to see what you can offer in the future.

One obvious problem that you already noticed is that you are a bit late, I think by now most people probably already read the release notes. Maybe for the next update video you could improve this by starting to record small video snippets as soon as features get merged, so that when the release comes you basically just need to put everything together and upload it. Then you should be able to deliver basically on the same day as the release.

Well said, thank you for the feedback! It really does help more than you know

Truthfully, this could have been posted over two weeks ago (still not great), but I am a chronic perfectionist and often get sidetracked on small details. That said, I am working on a more structured approach to making these videos, that way they’re not out-of-date by the time I’m done.

A trick you might be able to take advantage of: I started putting the release-notes label onto PRs and then use that to go find out what belongs in the release notes. Sometimes the notes will be pre-typed up, sometimes I’ll do a little bit more work at release time, but at least you’ll know the talking points already.

Wow, thank you so much!! That is exactly what I was looking for!

Cheers! Good luck with your channel.

Cheers to you too! I look forward to seeing how it goes!

Love the color scheme, audio is clear, and I like that there’s no music.

I would have liked a little more time to absorb the information on the slides, perhaps the transition animation could be quicker so there is more time when the text is static and legible.

Awesome work!

Thank you very much for the feedback, and for watching!! I agree with the transition timings, so I will go ahead and shorten those some from now on, keeping the slides on screen longer.
