Best way to start building a game?

Hello all, curious if anyone has been doing some game dev in Zig. Since Zig compiles C, I am assuming I can use some c libraries as the framework.

Curious if anyone went down this route and what they used? Any pitfalls to share so I don’t fall into them?

It will likely be a very simple game RP game where you move a pixelated character around a map, like how the old Pokemon games worked but minus the battles.


Hi! I don’t have insights to offer as I never created a game in Zig – I played around with SDL and it works fine, but that’s the extent of my experience – but I just wanted to point out there’s literally a #game-dev channel in the main Discord where you’ll probably find someone to help you.
