I love Python but always wanted to learn a statically typed and compiled system level programming language. I started out with Rust, but it was too complicated. Then I heard about Zig and tried it. At first it was a horrible experience because the lack of documentation and a small community. LLMs are also not really helping because there is no data to train on.

But then I realized, that this is great because I had to learn it the hard way. I am still a total beginner, but I gain ground step by step and when I slowly started to figure out how Zig works, writing code became a real experience.
