# Transit

———

Hi everyone! I’m working on Transit ([Data, computation and policies | Transit](https://spoke-sh.github.io/transit)), a versioned database and durable execution runtime written in Zig.

It brings together tables, key-value storage, documents, streams and queues, with a query engine called Fuze and a durable application framework called Station. There’s also a SQL console, a browser interface called Board, and SDKs for several languages.

A few parts of the implementation might be interesting:

- Separated storage and compute
- [DBSP](https://www.vldb.org/pvldb/vol16/p1601-budiu.pdf) incremental view maintenance
- Collation support (it can read mainframe datasets and join them to a table)

It’s early days but feel free to drop thoughts and comments if you find it useful or interesting.

### Supported Zig versions

Currently pinned to Zig 0.17.0-dev.2267+48abf1a34. The repository’s Nix development environment provides the pinned toolchain.

### AI / LLM usage disclosure

I use AI for architecture, implementation, tests and documentation. Its involvement spans the project.
