Both POSIX and OS/2 subsystems are abandoned by Microsoft. Last OS/2 subsystem was in Windows 2000. POSIX subsystem lived more as SUA (Subsystem for Unix Applications) and Windows Services for UNIX.

Win32API has always included [select](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/winsock2/nf-winsock2-select) and has included [WSAPoll](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/winsock2/nf-winsock2-wsapoll) since Windows Vista/2008.
