Yep, sometimes “AI” is better to be de-abbreviated as “Artificial Idiot”
I bought 2 or 3 of those books in kindle format. The same way I PAYED for the “Introduction to Zig”, and I choose to start with the Zig Programming Master.
Yes on amazon there are a few of them aboug Zig. Maybe they are good maybe they are not. I decided to give them a try.
The only thing I notice (after people started saying that was AI made), is that most of those are written by authors that on their descriptions… most of them are ML and AI related areas.
Again apologise for any “sales pitch”. That was never the intent. The only goal was to learn it, so I could introduce Zig to the company I work.
If so, throw it away and read this book instead, which some of us contributed to: Introduction to Zig
AI is not able to read books
Don’t be too sure.
The only thing we can do is leave a positive review for Pedro’s book on Amazon. I just did that.
I’m sure Pedro’s book deserves a positive review, but taking this concept to the natural conclusion, it represents a lowering of the bar, doesn’t it? We used to review things to compare which works of humans were better than others. What you’re proposing is for literary critique to only delineate between utter garbage and something that might contain any value at all. It feels like a step backwards to use a review system for this purpose.
… or it’s just some chthonic (but somewhat refined) trolling …
I feel it’s best to give the benefit of the doubt unless proven otherwise.
IANAL, so don’t know if/how this would work.
As the ZSF owns the Zig trademark, perhaps you could offer an official Logo stamp for Pedro’s book and then encourage people to “look for the Zig logo”.
I totally agree, but sometimes you have to beat the system at its own game. Because if people buy the junk because they simply don’t know any better and have no way of finding out, then I think that’s even worse. Because firstly, some people benefit inappropriately from the work of others and secondly, those who fall for it suffer harm. I don’t think that’s right and that’s why I’m making this suggestion. I also came up with this idea because one of my colleagues bought this book - independently of me - and was very enthusiastic about it. I then recommended that he write a review, which is only fair.
Yeah, I’m not disagreeing with your proposed course of action. It’s just sad, that’s all.
Thanks, I will.
Are you going to be an advocate of a some sort of a new “religion/god” stuff in the “person” of “GPT/LLM/NN”?
Well, personally I’m pretty sure that all that stuff is about “calculate as fast as possible” (reminds so called “high-frequency-trading” btw).
